Construction digitalisation survey at Construma

With our team we participated at Construma 2022, where we presented iKont and conducted a professional survey on digitalisation in the construction industry.
The CONSTRUMA event is unique in the Central and Eastern European region due to its complexity and its dual target group (B2B and B2C). All the products needed for construction and renovation are present at the exhibition. From building materials through doors and windows to insulation, including construction machinery, tools, equipment and procedures. The latest technologies are presented by the brands of national and international manufacturers.

The aim of the questionnaire was to get answers to the most important professional questions from construction professionals. In the light of the responses, we will seize the opportunity to further optimise iKont’s software and hardware solutions, to facilitate and improve digitalisation in the construction industry. We also wanted to know to what extent professionals active in the construction market use existing digitalisation solutions in their work.
A large part of our team is made up of construction professionals, but that doesn’t mean we don’t need to be in constant dialogue with others in the industry! In particular, we believe it is important that iKont addresses real challenges by bringing digitalisation to the construction industry.

Digitalisation in the construction sector is still in its infancy

Three main themes were explored in the survey and the following key findings emerged:

1. Communication and employee management
37% of respondents use a digital solution to inform employees. Most of the research participants have a strong desire to improve communication. Despite this, there were hardly any professionals with a specific strategy for implementing the development.

2. Calculated losses and damage events
Respondents most often referred to theft as a typical damage event (54%), but they do not use digital solutions to mitigate calculated losses.

3. Digitalisation and smart device use
We found shocking rates: survey respondents manage two-thirds of their construction activities using analogue methods and only 37% digitally. This is astonishing given that there is no area of business practice today that is not being transformed by digitalisation.

In addition to the main findings above, a number of other valuable findings emerged from the survey on digitalisation in the construction industry.
